Abstract

In this paper, we propose a model of transmission of a novel coronavirus (COVID’19) given by a system of non-linear differential equations. We apply optimal control theory to obtain optimal control strategies by minimizing the number of susceptible, exposed, and infected individuals. The existence and characterization of optimal controls are given using Pontryagin’s Maximum Principle. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the different effects and to show the efficiency of the proposed approach.
